End Corporal Punishment 2020 is a national effort spearheaded by Stop Child Cruelty, internationally recognized by the Global Organization to End All Corporal Punishment as the only Sri Lankan civil society organization committed to providing a happier and safer education without physical and mental pain. Although Sri Lanka signed UNCRC in 1992, relevant authorities have failed to take appropriate action to ban corporal punishment and ensure the welfare of children, resulting in the UNCRC issuing a red alert against the government of Sri Lanka in February 2018.
